My flight is booked! I head out on February 6th, and will arrive back the evening of March 3rd. Wow – one more step to making this whole experience real.
Graciously, my parents donated some of their Airmiles to the cause and because of that, I only had to pay the taxes and fees on the fare. AMAZING. (I will be buying them BIG Christmas presents!)
Already, I have met a few fellow volunteers on the Facebook Group that has been created for all of us. I responded to someone’s post, and it turns out that he will be flying out of London as well! Not sure it will be the same flight or even the same day, but it has just made me think about all the new people that I’m going to meet and befriend during this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I did a Contiki tour several years ago, traveling around Europe with a group of about 28 other strangers. By the end of the trip, I had formed such amazing friendships and wondered how anyone else in my life would be able to understand the shared experience of all the things we had done and seen together. I have a feeling this will be similar, but on a MUCH bigger scale 
The flight is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what (and who) is waiting for me once I arrive!
